Development Services
The focus of Development Services is to provide a full range of services related to land development activities in the City. This includes zoning administration, code compliance, subdivision actions, and review and processing of development permits.
Our goal is to provide effective solutions to assist projects in getting through the development process as smoothly as possible. Division staff ensures that all proposed development meets the City’s standards set out in various documents which include zoning standards, parking standards, signage standards, subdivision standards, and engineering standards.
The City of La Mesa Zoning Ordinance is contained in Title 24 of the Municipal Code. The Zoning Ordinance contains development standards and requirements for building heights, setbacks, lot sizes and dimensions, and parking for residential, commercial and industrial land uses:
It is the duty of the Community Development Department to investigate all zoning code violations that are reported to the City in writing.
