Transfer Policies

Per ECU’s Undergraduate Catalog, transfer course work will be evaluated based on:

• the accreditation of the institution,
• the grade earned in the course, and
• the credit hours completed.

There is no limit to the amount of transferable credit ECU can award; however, to earn an undergraduate degree with ECU, students must meet the following requirements:

• A minimum of 25% of the credit hours for the degree must be completed at ECU.
  • A minimum of 50% of the total hours required in the major must be completed at ECU.

  In order to avoid ineligibility due to “max time frame, students wishing to utilize Federal Financial Aid should also familiarize themselves with CPOS.

  Accreditation

  Transfer of college level coursework will be considered from any institutionally accredited college, technical institute, or university.

  Grade

  Only coursework where a student has earned a “C-” (1.7) or higher will transfer. Any course where a student earned a “D” or below will not be considered for transfer.

  Credit Hours

  For a course to be a direct equivalent to an ECU course, the credit hours must match. In other words, a two semester credit course cannot transfer as a three semester credit course; a three semester credit course cannot transfer as a four semester credit course. If a course meets the first two transfer policy criteria but is short on credit hours, it doesn’t necessarily mean the credits won’t transfer. In most cases these hours will show up as electives, just not as direct equivalents.
