SCHOOL ATTENDANCE ACT, 1926. THE SCHOOL ATTENDANCE (PRINCIPAL TEACHERS' RETURNS) ORDER, 1926.
WHEREAS by Section 23 of the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926), it is enacted that the Minister for Education may by order prescribe any matter or thing which is in that Act referred to as prescribed or to be prescribed:
AND WHEREAS the several matters intended to be prescribed by this Order are referred to in section 15 of the said Act as prescribed or to be prescribed:
NOW, I, JOHN MARCUS O'SULLIVAN, Minister for Education, n exercise of the powers conferred on me by the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926), and of every and any other power me in this behalf enabling, do hereby order as follows:—
1. This Order may be cited as the School Attendance (Principal Teachers' Returns) Order, 1926.
2. In this Order, the expression ``the Act'' means the School Attendance Act, 1926 (No. 17 of 1926), and the expression ``the Minister'' means the Minister for Education.
3. The Interpretation Act, 1923 (No. 46 of 1923), applies to the interpretation of this Order in like manner as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of the Oireachtas.
4. (1) For the purposes of sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Act the prescribed particulars of every child to whom the Act applies and who is absent from the national or other suitable school at which such child is enrolled or attending shall be the following, namely:
(a) the name of such child, and
(b) the address of the parent of such child.
(2) For the purpose of sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Act the prescribed particulars of the absences of every child to whom the Act applies and who is absent from the national or other suitable school at which such child is enrolled or attending shall be the following, namely:
(a) the name of such child,
(b) the dates of the absences of such child, and
(c) the alleged causes (if any) of such absences.
(3) For the purposes of sub-section (1) of section 15 of the Act, the particulars mentioned in the foregoing sub-paragraph of this paragraph shall be made up for each period commencing on Monday and ending on the following Saturday during which or any part of which the school at which such child is enrolled or attending has been open for secular instruction, and such particulars shall be communicated to the appropriate enforcing authority on the Form No. 1 in the Schedule hereto by sending the same by post as soon as possible, and in any event not later than the Tuesday after the last day of the said period, to such enforcing authority at their or his official address.
5. (1) For the purposes of sub-section (2) of Section 15 of the Act, the prescribed particulars of the attendances at and absences from any national or other suitable school of all or any children to whom the Act applies attending such school shall be the following particulars, namely.
(a) the number of days on which such school has been open for secular instruction during the period.
